Covid-19 Update 13 May 2021

Hello all. Thank you so so much for your support and encouragement with this current situation of Covid-19. You are all super stars to us and we love you so much. It has been encouraging to see your words and support and we ask that you continue with that same spirit of care and friendship. (mostly in private message). Having said that we are, for lack of a better word, ‘sad’ to announce that we will have to postpone the festival for at least a year.
The budget projections for especially the expenses ranged up to around 40 million Tshs, mostly going towards artist fees (we refused to give sub standard fees having consulted with them prior to determining those) and then also even with the wonderful support of Kendwa Rocks contribution, we would have still had a possible shortfall and risk to incomes of artists as well as other supplies. We do not operate on assuming gate collections will suffice, many a concert has come to shame for such attitudes and eventual scandals of artists being stranded and so on.
Hence you understand why we started early campaigns to sell tickets and so on. You will know we had at least had some assurance barring and gate collections that we would at least pay the artists fees and transport expenses and accommodation as well as any vendors and then we prioritized ourselves last.
We have sold some tickets but we will allow for options of refund or to be carried over to next year when we fully intend to host the concert.
Our desire will be that you do buy advance tickets and support us as we deliberately made the price Tshs 10,000 in advance and at gate price 50,000/- Tshs for late ticket or walk in buys (which we believe is a reasonable fee for 6-7 acts plus a DJ all night party at a upmarket hotel beach resort setting).
Our projected dates will be announced latest by September and will most likely be around the same time frame merely to allow a buffer of space to take into account Covid-19 restrictions being relaxed around the world and in East Africa and also taking into account the possibility of infections that may cause harm to innocent people trying to enjoy themselves. To avoid refund fees and unnecessary possible issues arising from cancellations we will close online ticketing and reopen that once we announce the new dates. Our projections for now with current prevailing conditions is that the prices will either remain the same or will be adjusted for inflation accordingly.
Be responsible. Be kind. Be bold if you wish and come for the concert in 2021 if at all you can. We assure you medical personnel would be there to help in the remote possibility of anyone getting any symptoms like fainting or any other medical emergency, but this is standard practice at any international event with ambulances and first responders on site and on call.
So we wish you all the best and all the safety and success possible under our new reality and look forward to seeing or hearing from you in 2021! As organizers and in partnership with Kendwa Rocks, East Africa and the worlds favorite hotel and party place, we wish you all the best. Stay safe!
